In spite of redundant data storage by mirroring the data on two or more
server hard disks based on
RAID level
I or V, a professional application requires an additional data backup on
an independent system. The completely automated backup of your data is
done on a Knipp-run backup system using a network backup solution. On
this system, too, the data is stored redundantly via
RAID,
increasing the security even more.
The management of professional backups is not trivial. A full backup of
all files on the server is done once a week. Every other day, a so-called
differential backup is done, which takes into account the changes since
the last full backup. A so-called incremental backup is done daily and
contains the changes since the last full, differential or incremental
backup.
The storage time of the backups is 14 days at most, then the files are
overwritten with newer data. With the gradual backup procedure, Knipp can
restore nearly everly state of your data within the previous 14 day
storage period.
The backup capacity is not standardised at Knipp, but can be set
individually by you in steps of 10 GB.
It does not matter whether you need only 10
GB or 1
TB. Adjustment of the backup capacity
is possible, starting at the first day of a month.
