... comes entirely from renewable energy sources.
The carbon dioxide emissions that are caused by humans and industry
demonstrably have a significant impact on global warming.
A considerable proportion of these CO2 emissions stem from the
operation of IT equipment and systems. With tendency to rise.

100% CO2 neutral hydroelectric power supply
|
A trend that Knipp opposes. Since 1 January 2011, the entire
power supply of Knipp, including the operation of its data centers in
Dortmund, is completely extracted from CO2 neutral renewable energy sources.
Moreover, Knipp's green energy is generated from hydropower,
which is one of the most climate-friendly ways to produce electricity.
Our partner in the supply of sustainable electricity is the
TÜV certified
hydroelectric power plant in Kristiansand, Norway.
What does TÜV certified mean?
Terms like »green power« are not protected in any way. Certificates from
independent organizations are intended to improve transparency and give
consumers the ability identify reliable offers and to distinguish them from
dubious ones.
The assignment of the TÜV SÜD certificate for green power is tied to two
conditions. First, the production of the electricity has to be purely based
on renewable sources like wind power, hydropower, solar energy, etc.
Second, a certain percentage of the revenue has to be reinvested in the
promotion of new facilities for regenerative power generation.

Hydroelectric power is even greener
|
So, Knipps power is not only 100% green, but also
- 100% ecological, since only regeneratively produced electricity from hydropower is used;
- 100% environmentally friendly, because it is produced in a CO2 neutral fashion;
- 100% sustainable, because at the same time the construction of new renewable power plants is promoted.
